Guidelines(section 299) Short quotations (four lines or less): put quotations marks around it and add the parenthetical annotation. (section 301) Long quotations (more than four typed lines): set the quote off from by the rest of the text by indenting one inch (10 spaces) and double-spacing the materials. When quoting two or more paragraphs, indent the firs lines of each paragraph an extra quarter inch (3 spaces). Do not use quotation marks. Follow the quote with the parenthetical annotation. Partial quotations: If you want to leave out part of a quotation, use an ellipsis to show the omission. An ellipsis is three periods with a space before and after each one.
