School Wide Events
Dessert First Fun Night
Mid-Dakota Reading Council sponsored the
2nd Annual Dessert First Fun Night. Students were read to by different book
characters while parents were listening to a speaker talk about how to help
their child develop good reading habits. Children and adults were treated to ice
cream sundaes before they left and all children received a free book.
Meet the Author Michael E. Ross
This year the Mid-Dakota sponsored
nonfiction writer Michael E. Ross. Even though the weather did not cooperate and
he wasn't able to present to the Chamberlain students, some students came to an
evening presentation. They were able to purchase books and have their picture
taken with Mr. Ross.

A chili supper complete with baked goods for sale was held Thursday, October
6th. The event was to promote community between parents, students and teachers
as well as raise money for the after school program.
Fundraiser for Katrina Victims
Chamberlain Elementary School raised money for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Teachers that wanted to wear jeans for the week and students who wanted to wear
hats for the week, paid a dollar a day for the privilege. $432.00 was earned
through the jeans and hats project. Students brought in money from their piggy
banks and other change to fill up an aquarium tank to raise money as well.
Students raised $408.40 by bringing in change. Another $500.00 was added from
the Jeans Because fund, for a total of $1341.40. This amount was sent to the
American Red Cross.
Teachers Support Deah
To get ready
for "A Day for Deah", teachers donned their colored t-shirts to show their
support. They look pretty good in green!
